THE CONSCIENCE OF A PROSERVATIVE,

I do not raise or spend money on name recognition advertising. If elected to the Vermont House of Representatives on November 4, 2008, I will introduce legislation and organize co-sponsors to provide:
Single Two-Year Term for all elected officials to replace professional career politicians who only want to be re-elected and avoid all legislation that may risk re-election. Many states already have term limits.
State-wide initiative, referendum and recall (as in California), so voters control legislation, not the governor, lobbies, and legislators. After 30 days in committee, bills will go automatically to referendum.
Televoters Act to require VOTE, YES, and NO buttons on all remote controls in Vermont, to conduct statewide non-binding same-day opinion surveys, to replace media-manipulated small-sample surveys now misused to manipulate public opinion.
Vermont Fairness Doctrine Law to pool all financing for each elective office to create a level playing field, and equal media access in elections, not just for the well financed, so as to eliminate fat cat financing and control of elections, and bribe-financed name recognition campaigns instead of issue driven candidates with stated practical legislative goals and specific ways to attain those goals.
Vermont Single Payer government-only financing of all health care, patient choice of the present providers, and delivery methods. First we reduce private premiums to the Medicare administrative cost level of 3%, to eliminate private insurers from Vermont. This will insure secure health care for all Vermonters forever. We already spend $3.3-billion, of which $1.1-billion is private insurer profit and waste but should be used instead to cover uninsured Vermonters.
Secure Full Employment based on dairy, cheese and chocolate, investment banking, tourism, higher education, and computer technology, wind energy equipment manufacture and installation, and conversion kits to retrofit home heating, cars, and gas stations with hydrogen liquid [hyliq] tanks.
Clean Up The Environment by switching from fossil fuels and nukes to clean, peaceful and renewable hydrogen for vehicles, and wind turbines, hydroelectric, solar, and geothermal for stationary uses. Hydrogen cars as dual fuel internal combustion engines have been on the road for a decade but we must retrofit cars and gas stations. Electric power from windmills driving electric generators to electrolyze water to oxygen and hydrogen, to be liquefied cryogenically, partly stored for low wind periods, and partly used in cars and home heating. The conversion to be self-financed by wind turbine and retrofit conversion kit equipment manufacture and installation. Switching to hydrogen will also end oil wars and free military and foreign policy to serve the public interest, not corporations in cars, oil, coal and nukes.
Justice for Underdogs by replacing professional career patronage judges and fee splitting lawyers with experienced, just and honest lay jurors, and teaching high-school students sufficient self-confidence and legal skills to protect their rights when they become employees, consumers, drivers, homeowners or tenants, patients, taxpayers and testators.
Abolish judicial immunity, summary judgments, and bench trials, to insure equal justice, not favor the rich and powerful.
Reparations for all victims of discrimination in employment based on age, race, gender, national origin, disability or any other impermissible factor not affecting job performance. Termination only for just cause after trial by jury.
